IN DEVELOPMENT
Sound Voice presents three exciting new initiatives in 2026/2027 which embody its vision to combine creativity and social impact.
Our work brings together diverse multi-generational voices to challenge stigma, platform lived experiences and use the arts as a catalyst for social change.
JUST CARE
At a time when new laws require every government department to be corporate parents – responsible for young people in and leaving care – this project is a 360° exploration of what care means in today’s society?
JUST CARE is an ambitious new interdisciplinary initiative designed to amplify the voices of care-experienced young people, placing them at the centre of public, professional and policy discourse. At a time when corporate parenting responsibilities are expanding, JUST CARE will illuminate what it means to grow up in care, challenge stigma, and foster deeper understanding across society.
An immersive music installation and series of immersive training resources in sound will respond to the urgent need for these voices to be heard.
Through dynamic collaboration with partners in the justice, care, healthcare and education sectors, JUST CARE uses the arts as a catalyst for social change.
VOICEAGENDA
Voiceagenda seeks to address the systemic barriers trans and gender diverse people face within the arts, classical music and in healthcare.
This new series of immersive operatic work continues Sound Voice’s pioneering work on voice and identity, following the original Sound Voice Project in 2020, working with people experiencing voice loss due to serious medical illness. This highlighted deep pre-conditioned societal and individual perceptions of voice relating to gender.
A Voiceagenda research and advocacy campaign will establish excellent voice knowledge and accessible training to support people who seek voice change to match their identity. The project will address the wide lack of trans people’s lived experience in healthcare and decision-making for gender-affirming and wider care.
ALL THE MEN I NEVER MARRIED
Based on Kim Moore’s award-winning poetry collection, this new project reimagines her poems through song and verbatim performance.
Exploring consent, everyday sexism, female desire, and societal silences, it is a radical reclaiming of women’s experiences.
Combining poetry, music and recording community voices, the project seeks to find new ways into conversations about gender and violence against women.
