I didn’t sleep a wink after seeing this. It quite literally blew me away. I haven’t stopped talking about it since and can’t wait to see where the project goes in the future.
The Sound Voice Project is part of Sheffield DocFest.
This unique performance installation explores powerful stories of voice loss and identity. Composer Hannah Conway and writer Hazel Gould Video collaborated with video designer Luke Halls and sound designer David Sheppard to create a gripping, surround-sound, audio-visual setting of three works: Tanja, Paul, and I Left My Voice Behind.
Each is a deeply personal and a distinct experience. By turns uplifting and heartrending, it is a celebration of the beauty and intrinsic value of the human voice. The installation invites audiences to consider wider issues of voice and identity, asking ‘what is a voice’ and ‘what happens when it is gone?’
