100 VOICES
What does it mean to have a voice in a hospital? Have your say.
100 VOICES is an immersive sound installation touring hospitals in the UK in Autumn 2023. Be one of 100 VOICES in your hospital community.
Use the form below to send us a voice recording with your thoughts on what it means to have a voice in a hospital:
- What do you want to say?
- What do you want to ask?
- What do you want people to know?
The recording should be a maximum of 15 seconds but can be as short as you wish.
We welcome all voices but offensive or derogatory language will not be included.
Tips on how to record yourself
- Choose a quiet location or space.
- Use a smartphone, tablet, computer or voice recorder. If you are using an iPhone, have a look at the instructions below. Android instructions coming soon!
- Place your device or microphone on a flat surface or stand, to reduce the sound of your hands against it. A small pile of books on a table works brilliantly!
- Have a think about what you want to say, and if need be, make some notes. But when you record, try to speak naturally instead of reading.
- When you are ready to share your recording, use the form below to upload your file to our private server.
- If you run into any problems and you need help, please contact us on info@soundvoice.org.

More about 100 VOICES
Sound Voice have been in hospitals across the UK, talking to staff, patients and visitors about “what it means to have a voice in a hospital?” From these conversations, Sound Voice is developing an immersive sound installation for four hospitals.
100 VOICES will be a unique snapshot of hospital communities; 100 voices collected both in person and remotely, a diverse collection of people and voices, never heard before in the same space. Words and voices will be heard anonymously as an immersive experience, projected in spatialised 360 degree audio, heard both as individuals and as a crowd, as a flock of voices, as a tidal wave of ideas, underscored by an original musical score. 100 VOICES will be a sound installation to provide a platform to speak as one community.
100 VOICES has been developed in partnership with University College Hospital London, University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, and the Royal Preston Hospital. The project has been funded by Arts Council England and supported by PENTAX Medical.
